(program note)

De Rerum Natura is one of my earliest official compositions, written during my years of study in Milan in the late 90’. Although it belongs to an early phase of my work, it already marks a decisive moment in my artistic development.

Inspired by De rerum natura by Lucretius, the piece reflects an early fascination with pantheistic thought: the idea of nature as a unified, living continuum in which matter, energy, and spirit are inseparable. At the time, these concepts were approached intuitively, as a young composer searching for a musical language capable of engaging with forces larger than the individual.

Looking back today, De Rerum Natura can be seen as a foundational work. The philosophical questions it raises—about immanence, transformation, and the vibrancy of matter—would resurface a few years later, in a more conscious and structured way, within my engagement with spiritual thought, notably in the tantric-inspired triptych to which Anahata Concerto belongs.

In this sense, De Rerum Natura stands as an early seed: a youthful but essential step in a longer trajectory where music becomes a space for exploring the deep interconnections between sound, nature, and inner experience.

(Programme Note - Deutsch)
